What’s Next: 2026 & 2027

During our first ten years, we have assisted 104 athletes (97 women, 7 men), from 18 countries in five disciplines of cycling (road, mountain, cyclocross, track & triathlon), seven of whom are Olympians. Many of our athletes have made the jump from domestic elite to professional racing while residents. When it comes to investing in women, the Homestretch Foundation is successful and thriving.

So what’s next?

2026: Homestretch will be on Sabbatical. No residency offered this year.

Our CEO, Kathryn Bertine, has run Homestretch for the past decade and is taking a year sabbatical to finish her next book. She’s also getting married! After ten years, she deserves a hard-earned sabbatical from all the fundraising, lobbying and organizing that makes Homestretch possible.

2027: Homestretch 2.0 returns with a few changes. Instead of the original Homestretch house, the selected athletes will reside in a fully furnished short-term rental…

  • THREE athletes will be selected to receive grants that cover 3 months of rent/utilities in Tucson, AZ from Dec 1, 2026 - Mar 1, 2027

  • The 3 athletes will live in a fully furnished rental residence

  • Homestretch will guide the athletes in booking the rental residence

  • Individuals or pairs (teammates, training partners) may apply for residence

  • Priority is first given to UCI Pro Continental road cyclists, then Domestic Elite Team / National Team road cyclists, followed by MTB & Gravel racers

  • Applications for Dec 2027 will open in March 2026. Mark your calendar!

Even though Homestretch will be on sabbatical for 2026, can donors still donate?

  • ABSOLUTELY! All donations accrued now through May 2025 go to our current 2025 Homestretch season. All donations accrued between June 2025 through Dec 2026 will be allocated to our 2027 season. Please keep those donations coming! Without you, there is no Homestretch Foundation.
